My passions are technology and art, especially the intersection of the two. The girl was a patient suffering from cancer, but she still decided to show positivity to the world when she recorded her daily life and treatment in the hospital. Despite the disease, she was hard-working, energetic, and smiley. However, people on the internet questioned her, as they asserted that she did not look like a patient at all. They accused her of faking the cancer and performing to the audience. I watched the girl transform from a passionate and optimistic youth to a depressed one. It was heartbreaking to watch her transform from a vigorous, affectionate girl to one that was silent and fragile. My strong desire to help her inspired me to develop a game that encourages players to seek assistance when faced with difficulty. In its first trial, “Circular Epiphany” was successful in distracting my friend’s attention from her depression, and more importantly, the advantage of seeking help was evident. Her strong response to the game led to a meaningful conversation regarding her feelings of isolation. I am very proud of what I created and how “Circular Epiphany” fulfilled my vision. Ultimately, I see Circular Epiphany as a tool that can be used to guide discussion. I have invited others to send it to friends who may also be struggling with loneliness and depression. When I saw the news of a company using tricks to cunningly make employees work overtime just to exceed the performance of their competitor company, I was determined to make a game that reflects both the business values of healthy competition and discourage behaviors leading to vicious competition. Using Daily Event Cards as an example, while some events promote the pursuits of diversity and collective identity, causing favorable results, other events include cheating and other selfish behaviors, leading to harmful results.
